Reconciliation Part II (Terra, Starfire and Blackfire)

Mar 06, 2007 22:21

As planned, Blackfire showed up just outside of the mall a little bit before her 3pm meeting time with Terra and Terra's friend from the Nexus. She peered into a store window, spotting a couple of outfits that would look cute on her, and one that would look nice on Terra as well. Perhaps they'd go in there, if Terra's friend was sporting enough ( Read more... )

Flying would have gotten both of them there faster, but Terra wanted to be inconspicuous today, so she was in her traditional garb of blue hoodie and jeans as she came up on the mall with her friend in tow. Her walk was uneasy, though... mostly out of fearful anticipation. But she could mediate this. She trusted herself. And she trusted Blackfire and Starfire to act like adults. Hopefully her trust wasn't misplaced.

Starfire followed Terra with the feeling that she was set up for disappointment. She couldn't help but feel that any attempt to speak with Blackfire, at this point, was going to end with disaster. Given the past situations, one involving banishing Blackfire from her home planet, it wasn't easy to say that this would be different. Starfire trusted that her friend Terra would help out however she could.

Anyone who recognized Starfire would notice that she was nearly hiding behind Terra in an attempt to act casual ...which was ridiculous, since Starfire was much taller than Terra.

At first, Blackfire didn't notice Terra and Starfire coming. She'd been busy admiring the clothing in the one store. She turned around when she heard footsteps, smiling when she saw Terra. That smile quickly changed to a frown when she saw who Terra brought along.

"I thought you knew better than that, Terra," she said, eyes briefly flashing pink before she fixed Starfire with a look of loathing. "I'm out of here."

Without another word, she flew into the sky, furious at Terra for bringing Starfire along, and at Starfire for thinking she could intrude in the first place.

"Knew better than what?" was the first thing Terra could think to shout up at Blackfire before unceremoniously yanking a chunk of rock from under her feet and ascending after her. This was already going wrong. Great. She didn't want to deal with things going wrong. If anything, she rather expected Blackfire to be the more mature of the two of them. She wasn't sure why, and equally wasn't sure why she was surprised at the reaction, but right now, she really only cared about making things right.
