Sizes?

Okay, so my girls are tiny. I knew they would be, since they were preemies, twins, and I am only 5' 2". But my mother is starting to worry me a little with exactly how small they are, and the doctor has mentioned their size at every visit ( Read more... )

Lizzie is about 28 pounds and I think she is 36 inches tall, but maybe I'll measure again tonight. Her legs are long, so 2T pants are floods on her, but 3T waists are too big and need to be cinched up all the way if the pants are adjustable. We buy everything 3T and deal with it being a little loose on her. She just outgrew her size 7 shoes and we bought her 8s, but they are big on her - I think she could wear a 7.5.

So, she's not quite as little as your girls, but she's not all that much bigger, either. Dan and I are both 5'9". My grandmother didn't even break five foot though, and we don't know anything about Dan's genetics. So she may come by it honestly. The ped has never pointed her size out to us as a concern.

OK, I just had Ben run in and get on the scale for you...

Boy or girl? Boy
Weight? 29.2 lbs
Height? ~37 inches
Size clothes? 4T shirts fit his arms, most 3T pants fit his legs, though some 2T do. He has a tiny waist so he needs adjustable wastes even in 2Ts.
Size shoes? He has a pair of 7.5 sneakers and a pair of 8 casual shoes and just since Christmas it seems he is about to outgrow the 8s though the 7.5s are still ok for now.

I think Gage is pretty average for size and for comparisons sake, I am 5'7 and husband is 6'1

He is 33lbs
37inches appox.
wearing 3t perfectly
shoes 9

One of my daughters was tiny too, petite in the body and thin, but she is healthy and very average in size now (shes 6) although still thin and small boned.

I've lost my tape measure, but Eloise is in mostly 4T stuff or Hanna 100's. I haven't convinced her to wear pants in almost a year though, and leggings and dresses have more size flexibility than stuff like jeans would, I'd imagine. She has a pair of 4T corduroys she got as a gift that look like they'd be gigantic. Sizes are weird.

Her shoes are 8's and 9's.

I wouldn't worry, you're small and they were preemies, some kids are petite. My oldest and my sister's youngest and my cousin's oldest are all like that, in direct contrast to the their siblings. It's just the way they're built, they developing appropriately in every other way. In fact, during our adoption of my oldest (I know her birth family, which is what I'm comparing her to in this), we had to turn in a well check once a year and on the last one our doc didn't do it, one of his partners did and automatically put Failure To Thrive on the form! Strictly based on her growth chart, when I called our doc, he was outraged that the doc did not take into account his 3 years worth of observations! She went into Kindergarten wearing a size 9 toddler shoe ( ... )
