Miss Pauling | Team Fortress 2 | Leavingprpl_assistantNovember 13 2011, 22:14:00 UTC
(Well, looks like today's the day. She should be happy that she's going home, happy that she'll no longer have to put up with all the things that Mayfield's thrown at her throughout the years. She'll finally be going HOME.
But what is home to her? Back to the Administrator, back to RED and BLU, back to a family that nearly all hates her and no friends to help her out.
Really, it's only because she's so sick and tired of Mayfield that she's escaping one prison, but landing herself in another. But then again, at least back home she could still see her father again. She really misses him. If she disappeared forever, it'd probably break his heart.)
Decided on leavin' then? Th' blokes who are stayin' behind have let this place get to 'em.
*He's wanted nothing more than to go back home and not have to deal with this place. But now that it comes right down to it.. He's not sure home is all that much better.*
Yeah, well...I've still got responsibilities back home that need seeing to. But Mayfield doesn't seem like such a bad place to live in. I mean...a lot of people got second chances at life.
Well, last I heard the droning effects have started to wear off. More and more people are recovering from it, so maybe there won't be any drones left soon.
As for where you'll be stationed...the last I heard of it, the Administrator was thinking of sending to Teufort, seeing as you've never been there before.
10 years of failing at feelings. D:bye_to_yer_headNovember 14 2011, 15:18:05 UTC
'Course not.
*He walks along beside her for a bit, mind racing. This was his absolute LAST CHANCE at...well...anything. He takes a deep breath, running his fingers through his hair. He was leaving anyway, most likely he'd never see any of these people again.
Now or never.
He glances over at her. Looks back down at the ground. Then suddenly and without warning turns and pulls her into a hug.*
Leading to one moment of truth.prpl_assistantNovember 14 2011, 15:28:06 UTC
(Why did she ask him to do that? She's not too sure, but somehow, she doesn't want him to leave. She feels that twisting feeling in her gut, but she's too afraid to say anything. To say it out loud would be to bring it out into the open. It'd be burning bridges forever, and she might not like the other side. She has never really known how the Sniper feels about her, and she's afraid to know. She doesn't think she can take the rejection and risk ruining the friendship they already had.
However, she's completely taken by surprise when she's suddenly pulled into that hug. For a moment, she doesn't know what to do. But when she hears his voice, hears him saying those words, she just...just goes with it. She hugs him back tightly and buries her head into his chest.)
And Engie gives Sniper a helping hand.hardhat_truckieNovember 15 2011, 03:41:09 UTC
(In the background, a gramaphone starts playing a familiar song. If Sniper recalls, it's the same one they danced to at Homecoming, ten years ago. Should he look up, he'll see Engie there giving him a thumbs up and an encouraging smile.
This is way too adorable.bye_to_yer_headNovember 15 2011, 05:01:12 UTC
*Well this is something he should have done years ago. He silently holds her, having absolutely no idea what to say other than stating the obvious fact that he's going to miss her. Even though he'll still see her occasionally for their jobs it just won't be the same. Especially with the Administrator looming over their heads.
He glances up at Engie and Tara, and softly smiles, shaking his head at them. You guys are too much. He looks down at Miss Pauling in his arms... Well, he feels like a fool for hugging her this late in the game, and they're in public with a gramaphone playing. Why not make it even more embarrassing, but far more memorable? Pushing back from her a bit he extends his hand, that small smile still on his face.*
I know...there's this giant grin on my face.prpl_assistantNovember 15 2011, 05:11:18 UTC
(When the music starts, she nearly gasps with surprise. It's this song, the same one ten years ago when they were both starting to know each other. The only difference this time is that instead of her asking him...
He's asking her.
She's so nervous now as she nods, a lump in her throat. One arm around his waist, the other sliding shyly into his hand. She almost feels twenty five again; young and foolish. But this will probably the last time she'll get this chance, the last time she'll ever get to speak with him as a friend, or maybe even something more, she doesn't even know. But this will be the final time that she'll get to return his smile and hug him just a little closer.
I only have like.. 3 icons with him not looking pissed off. /sighbye_to_yer_headNovember 15 2011, 05:32:43 UTC
*He tips his hat down to hide his blush and pulls her close as they start to move. If he closes his eyes he can pretend that Engie and Tara aren't nearby probably grinning like madmen. And Spy is surely lurking around taking pictures for his ever growing photo album of teammates in compromising positions.
But for once... for the first time in decades... That's the last thing he's thinking about. All he's thinking about is the woman in his arms, and the fact that he should have done this years ago. If he'd only had the courage to try.*
Yeah, I only have...one of her smiling sincerely.prpl_assistantNovember 15 2011, 05:39:29 UTC
(She just leans in on him. There's none of that awkwardness that was prevalent at their first dance. Instead, she feels nothing but safe and secure in his arms. Slowly they sway to the song, with no one but the Sniper in her mind.
Why was she such a fool? Why did it take her so long? What was it in the first place that made her so afraid to ask? Why is it only now, when they are inches away from losing each other, did she finally have the courage to try?
It's been a long time, nearly twenty years, but the tears are starting to form and the first of many sniffs are coming.)
*He looks down at her, gently stroking her hair with one gloved hand. After knowing her for so long he can sense the change in her posture and emotion before the sniffles start coming on.*
You alroight?
*Don't cry! He doesn't know what to do about crying.*

Wonder where I'll be stationed this time...

*He scratches the scar on his cheek and looks around at the various people leaving..... Well, no use putting it off any longer.*
Guess.... I'll be seein' you around?

Actually, do you mind walking with me a bit? I'm not...exactly ready to go back yet.
