General assumption: women are targets; men are archers. Arthur had always found egoistic pleasure in the idea being the hunter he was, but assumption it turned out, was wrong.
Though Arthur’s lips had met hers first, forcing the beginnings of undeniable realisation, it had been Guinevere that enthralled his heart; opening his once blinded eyes to her rapturous presence, illuminating the truth within and scaring him. For the reality was he’d been hers since the start of creation. He was the target all along, merely awaiting her arrow and Guinevere’s aim was true, he never stood a chance. Perfect bulls-eye.
