Oh, good. You're reading the actual graphic novel. Because even though the film is not bad, it seriously waters down the whole message of the book. :D

i sorta learnt from the manga-turned-animes. dont get me started on comic book movies and (shudder) horrible game-adapted-into-movies

There's a reason Alan Moore refused to have his name even credited on the movie. But... it wasn't exactly a horrible adaptation. It just sort of missed the point. And I think the graphic novel is a lot bleaker.
