Happy birthday, Shintaro Kishimoto! In your honor, I've translated one of your magazine interviews.
Potato November 2009
Talking about a dramatic experience, during this year's '24 Hour Television' broadcast I was able to stand on the same stage as my admired Mr. Tomohisa Yamashita. To really be with some who up until now I've only been able to see on television was like a dream. Another thing is, my swimming instructor wrote that I did well on the swimming test that checked whether I learned the new strokes. The last thing my teacher did was praise me, saying: "you were excellent." These nice words were intended to reward me for my hard work, and they made me happy.
Talking about dramas, it's absolutely Mr. Yamashita! I think it's amazing the way he can play a cool character or a funny character. I also want to become an actor who can play as many different kinds of people. Like in "Kurosagi" I want to experience a world where reality is really twisted!
About the last line, where he says that he wants to experience a "twisted" world like in Kurosagi: I think what Kisshi means is that he wants to play a dark hero, like Kurosaki (the main character of Kurosagi, played by Yamapi), who is technically a bad guy because he's a swindler, but who is also a good guy because he only swindles bad guys to get back the money they swindled from innocent people. On another note, Kisshi seems to be a rather good actor. I thought he did quite well in his first drama, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, where he played young Kyohei (adult Kyohei was played by Kazuya Kamenashi).
Isn't it adorable when juniors talk about their admired seniors? That's why I chose to translate this article.
Kisshi definitely isn't the cutest of the chibi juniors. I actually don't classify him as chibi in my mind, even though the rest of his group, The Snow Prince Gasshoudan, very much is. However, I've never seen him mess up a dance step, which is more than I can say for most juniors. He seems to be dedicated to always doing his best, which is a great quality is have. I look forward to seeing more of him in the future, preferably alongside Yuuya Otsuka because I feel like they make the cutest pair.
