catch-up, as always

Only two days' worth of recap this time rather than a week's --

Tuesday -- Fighter practice was most excellent. John brought a sword for me, and though it's a crazy one with no weight to it at all and a two-handed hilt attached to a bitty, short blade, still, yay. And the great thing about patched-together rattan weapons is that they can easily be repatched, so I will simply move the crossguard closer to the pommel and thus have a proper one-handed sword.

There were ever so many spectators from the obnoxious children who tried to grab the weapons to the amusing bunch of girls that just walked up started lifting plates of what's-his-name's armor (while he was wearing it). They wanted to do the same to Zorikh but decided he looked 'serious' and ran away in fright. They also asked if girls were allowed to fight since at that point Jolie and I were spectating, so we were honor bound to demonstrated our polearm sparring despite having only just stopped after an hour of the same.

Gil (who should fucking NOT have a girlfriend, by the way) gave me excellent instruction in off-side sword stikes and declared that I am sufficiently aggressive and possessed of killing force. So that was nice.

Afterwards, to Mugs with Jolie, Zorikh, and Ryan, who all endeavored simultaneously to explain to me their scheme for a start-up gladiator/slave auction themed bachlorette party business. Way entertaining.

Wednesday -- Shopping adventures. Attempted to return camping gear and ended up with a new favorite shirt instead. Stupid, overpriced, early-closing camping store. Lovely, sale-having Sharango store dealing in shirts with many colors and FRINGE!!! Also, have discovered there are two elaborate tropical theme parties within the next week that I want to attend, so my prudent decision to wait until the best bikini ever goes on sale may be foiled. But...one blacklight party requiring white attire, and one fetish party rendering wee embroidered death's heads highly appropriate...the best bikini ever is versatile as well as simply fantastic.

Also on Wednesday, dinner with Kasey at Elora's. Yes, after not seeing one another for about a week and conducting an email-based schedule comparison that revealed we could conceivably continue not seeing one another until mid-July, my roommate and I resorted to making a dinner date in order to catch up. Ridiculous. Fun, though. Yay, Elora's, even if they did jsut raise their prices.
