Secondly, having grown up on Long Island, I know what you mean about how strange it is that some images of the Twin Towers have that effect and some don't. The first time I saw the skyline without them was a very surreal thing. Other times, it would be some pictures but not others which made it feel much realer than other times. It's strange to be so jarred by different images of the same thing.

I love this entry too, for reasons I can't fully articulate at the moment. It has something to do with the way you begin by talking about the movies you've watched lately and end with a universal truth. It's a good reminder that being a stable adult doesn't have to make one less interesting, and that writing is one of the best ways to encourage ourselves to reflect on ordinary events and draw meaning from them.
And incidentally, Greg and I are also currently working our way through News Radio! God bless Netflix.

and re: impermanence and finding things difficult to understand... these past two days i can't stop thinking about the family that died when the fighter jet crashed in san diego... so, so horrible.
