soon it won't hurt half as much as you thought

Living in southern California means that the only experiences with winter that I have occur when I come back to New Jersey for the holidays. And for at least the last two years-- maybe more; I remember one snowy winter but it may have been as many as five years ago-- there has been zero snow during my trip. We got a little flurry here earlier this ( Read more... )

No prob! I'd been meaning to blog about it for awhile; it's really quite awesome. And the paperback is apparently coming out on 12/26.

I found the question "Why am I dreaming about this, what does this symbolize" very funny for some reason.

I have always had very vivid dreams, and sometimes I wonder if my brain gets very colorful in a cheeky way of giving me something to ponder when I wake up. Like it's secretly laughing to itself like "yeah, yeah, throw that in, she'll think she's losing it, haha!"

As far as the weather...being New Yorker and visiting my parents in Florida over the winter is alway really awkward. When I was in college and would go there for Christmas break, I would be very distrustful of palm trees in December. Something about it just wasnt right. And when I would come back to school, (one time, landing and having to walk across tarmac in 3 degree weather) it was just as jarring.

Ooh, thanks for the book recommendation, and the comment that most of the exercises translate well enough to weight machines (I use the gym in my apartment complex, which is small and lacking in barbells -- but hey, it's free!). I've wanted to get into weight training for years, but I've always been afraid of doing it wrong and hurting myself, so a resource like this would be great. On a related note, I recently got into a funk that I couldn't seem to pull myself out of, and it took me a couple weeks to realize that it was probably because I'd been neglecting to get ANY exercise. It's amazing what an impact that has.

In other news, it snowed here in Vegas this week! I hadn't been so excited about snow since I was a kid, and I thought, Hmm, I bet Erin would understand exactly how I feel right now. I didn't have to dig the car out, though. That probably would've killed it for me too. ;)

I experienced the "joy" that is walking around downtown Manhattan in several inches of slush for the first time today. The slush seems to collect in half-foot-deep puddles wherever it is that you need to walk, and then just sit there. Ugh.

I am around at least until Tuesday, and then I'm not sure what my plans are exactly -- I might be in Chicago for New Years, but if I'm not there, I'll probably be here. Either way I'm likely to be back in NYC during the first few days of January?
