it's the sound of the unlocking and the lift away

When I was a kid, I was really into the occult-- I read every book about ghosts, ESP, witchcraft, etc that I could get my hands on. That's pretty awesome. I've always liked Free Will Astrology, not as an Astrology devotee but because they're always at least pleasant to read (and often include general good advice -- it's nice to be reminded of good advice from time to time).

Here is my current horoscope, though: I encourage you, in other words, to cull the excess and chaos from your love life. If you're single, narrow your focus down to a couple of fantasies rather than a wide variety. If you're in a committed relationship that's worth working on, swear off any possibility of cheating or escaping. In either case, perform an exorcism of all the ghosts that might threaten to distort your long-term romantic future.

Also eerily relevant.

ha! seriously. i like the idea of an emotional exorcism. unfortunately the only model for one that comes immediately to mind is the episode of friends where one of the girls is getting married, and the other girls tell her that she needs to burn the contents of "the box." meaning, of course, the box where she has all the love notes, etc, from previous boyfriends. i do have one myself, back at my parents' house, from middle school and high school when any scrap of ephemera received from a boy was worth treasuring. i somehow got over that in college, though.

I was really into the occult as a kid too. I blame it on being Catholic.
