A manip, found a website forever ago that would generate them...I haven't any idea what the URL was, at this point, but it's a priceless Michigan moment, to be sure! :D
I had a wealth of work-avoidance fun putting the mood icons together - and since nothing I do is done if not over-done, I have two other mood themes made and ready to switch to at a moment's notice - color Rickman, and all-Snape.
I am a nerdblossom in full bloom, although I am relieved to say I'm not the most exotic plant in the greenhouse. :P
I've followed and respected the man's work for nigh on two decades (which means there's a significant number of Rickman fans who will include me under the heading 'old'!) and the fact that he's my father's age bothers me Not One Whit. I think my dad was old at 40 - and Rickman just isn't old in my eyes (but I don't get hung up on numbers, anyway.) :D
I've been a fan since Sense and Sensibility in 1995. He's sort of firmly soft-spoken, and projects a Mr. Darcy sort of appealing restraint, but he has this intense stare that makes me shiver.
His work is really excellent, I think (all sex-appeal aside). Just recently I saw Snow Cake and loved it, from start to finish. (And, y'know, it took place in Canada, so yay Canada.)
I was interested in seeing if he appeared in anything further following Die Hard (that would be 1988, I'm showing my age), but when I saw Closet Land a few years later I began to actively watch for, seek out, information about his projects. I don't tend to 'fan' anyone (mainly him and a couple of scholars - seriously, I'm odd), and don't usually think twice about actors (or other 'famous' folk, never really have been that type), so it's an odd thing for me. I'm just always so impressed by his performances (even when I otherwise don't care much for the film), and he seems so bleedin' intelligent and real... Anyway, utmost respect and all of that. I swear if I ever traveled anywhere interesting and experienced a 'sighting' I'd collapse from the sheer stress of wanting to express my admiration but knowing he's a person who would like to be left alone to go about his business I'd not want to approach/bother and be one of those fans. I think my brain would short-circuit
