richard siken is a secret love of mine from a while back. seeing this poem in greatpoets reminded me of his brilliance. posting it here is plagiarism of a sort, i suppose, but let me say now that it is well-intentioned. a tribute to a poet i have loved and forgotten.

let me also say that i'm not the mystery you seem to think. in reality, i'm just the same boring bundle of contradictions as anyone else. i think more than anything that's why i worry about the lie. i fear that i pretend to be more than i am.
