So I currently live at 54°20′ N and I have noticed a big difference in the daylight here. Just before leaving for Canada for Christmas I was having to turn on the lights in my office around 3:30 pm. This was surprisingly early. I feel quite happy now that I was able to bike to TaeKwonDo yesterday in daylight (~5:30 pm). I was told that the here ( Read more... )

I left work last Friday around 5:30pm and it was still light out. it was awesome.

Calgary has similar problems. Our friends in Edmonton will be more comparable to what you're going through. The summer time is where its at though - having to postpone fireworks until 11pm (or so) at night, since the sun doesn't go down until late is pretty random. Perhaps that's why there's so much more enthusiasm about fireworks in southern Ontario - they can start them at a more reasonable hour of the day. :)
