A/N: Part of the 10-word challenge given to me by Retsu.
“We’re almost there!” Yae called happily as she ran down the path. Sae was a few feet behind her, gaze darting around from tree to tree in wonder.
The twin sisters were on their way to their favorite stream to spend the afternoon, just the two of them.
“Sae! Hurry!”
“Coming, coming!” The younger sister called and began to run after Yae only to slip on some loose stone, her foot sliding off the edge of the path.
The girl screamed and reach for a tree root, managing to grab a hold of one before she fell over the edge completely.
“Sae!” Yae cried and fell to her knees, grabbing her sister’s arms and pulling with all her might. Sae was able to get her footing and with her sister’s help, got back onto the path.
The twins sat there for a moment, both panting as they calmed themselves, clutching one another like a lifeline.
Yae took a hold of her sister’s hand and squeezed it tightly.
“Let’s hold hands the rest of the way.” She said softly and Sae nodded.
“Okay.”
