Dorrek was gone, off handling royal matters of some sort which meant that William was by himself. He didn't mind being alone but being alone on a planet that wasn't your own? A little overpowering at times.
"Your highness?" William glanced away from the window towards the door and smiled faintly.
"Yes Victor?"
"...Are you all right?" The guard took a step closer, worry flickering through his eyes. William's smiled slowly faded and he glanced away. No words came from the prince and Victor sighed, the door sliding shut behind him as he moved closer and touched the Prince's shoulder. "You should get some rest."
"I can't sleep."
"I know but you need to try at least," Vic said softly, tugging William towards the bed and making him lay down. The blankets were drawn up around the Prince before the young man straightened up. "Sleep well your highness."
"Stay..please.." Blue met green as the boys looked at one another and Victor hesitated before slowly nodding, sinking down onto the edge of the bed.
"Of course." William gave him a grateful look, reaching out to take his hand before forcing himself to close his eyes. The guard held his breath for what seemed like forever, watching as William's breathing slowly evened out before his fingers slowly, hesitantly curled around the prince's.
"...Goodnight, sweet prince," he whispered, tearing his eyes away as he looked towards the window, a sense of longing tugging at his heart as he pulled his hand away and stood, leaving the room before he did something he'd regret.
