“Are you okay?”
Gert glanced at Julian out of the corner of her eye, pulling her knees a bit tighter to her chest.
“I have no idea where my friends are, my dinosaur is missing, and I'm stuck here with you. Yeah, I'm great.” Rolling his eyes, Julian looked away from her, glaring off into the darkness.
“Excuse me for being such a horror to be around.”
Silence fell over the pair for a long moment before Gert sighed, reaching up to pull her glasses off and rub the bridge of her nose.
“Sorry, I'm just--”
“--on edge?” he finished for her. Gert glanced at him again and nodded slightly.
“Yeah.”
“Don't apologize. This isn't exactly fun.”
“Oh, come on. This is exactly how I like to spend my evenings,” she drawled as she slipped her glasses on, a bit more relaxed than she had been moments before, if only because she was more comfortable around the telekinetic. Dire situations tend to bring people together after all.
Julian smirked, tipping his head back against the wall as he closed his eyes for a brief moment and took a deep breath.
“They'll be here soon.”
“I hope you're right.”
“I'm always right.”
“Chump.”
