Sometimes being Nova Prime really sucked.

Time and time again Rich felt separated, distanced, from the people he had once called his friends. So much had happened on his home planet while he had been out saving the galaxy and now it was hard to even call Earth his home. He felt like a stranger in a place that he had once been so familiar with, a stranger amongst people he had once been so close to.

Like Justice.

Vance was still the same in many ways but at the same time he was so different now. He had really found himself since their time as New Warriors together; he'd grown so much, really filled the hero shoes he had always tried to fit into. Sure Rich had been a little put off by the Initiative pitch that the other young man had thrown him the last time they had crossed paths but, hearing what he was up to now, Rich was nothing but proud of his friend.

But it hurt at the same time.

He wanted so badly to be amongst them again, for things to be like the old days but he knew, just like he was sure they did, that it would never happen. Things would never be the same; they all had their own paths, those that were still alive, and all they could do was keep going and leave the past as just that.

The past.

[Rider?]

Snapping out of his thoughts, Rich tore his gaze away from the planet he had been staring down at, glancing back out into space.

“Hm?”

[You alright?]

“Yeah, I'm fine, Worldmind.” He glanced back slightly, unable to help himself as he cast one last longing look back down at his home. “Just fine.”
