Update
Dear loyal and patient readers,
Apologies from me. Honestly, Doubles was supposed to have been finished well before now, two months ago at least. Sorry about the delays, that certainly wasn't in the plan, but as of late very little in my life has been going to my initial plan. So, first it was the writer's block, then I moved house, then when I thought I would be able to go back to it the writer's block returned. It's been made more difficult because I've falling out of rhythm for writing. I can't remember what has or hasn't been said so I'm having to re-read Doubles to get back on track while fighting plot bunnies for other things which keep trying to distract me. Turns out Doubles isn't the shortest story to re-read - who knew?
Anyway, that brought me up to last week and I was planning on trying to blitz through the writer's block this weekend and try and get more words down on the page now I had a weekend which wasn't going to taken up with packing, moving, gardening, unpacking or taking a trip out to London with some fandom friends. (Good times). Unfortunately, that's no longer going to be possible.
Tuesday night I got a phone call from my parents to say that an old friend of mine and the son of close family friends, has died in somewhat tragic circumstances. He was the same age as me, just a few months younger in fact, and I've known him for his entire life which is pretty much my entire life too. Obviously I'm still in shock and mourning and this weekend is going to be taken up with visiting his family. For someone who doesn't easily cry, I've cried more in the past two days than in the previous two years combined.
So, uh, yeah, obviously still no Doubles, and at the moment I don't know when the last chapter/s will be finished with. I just thought I'd let you know what's going on because most of the time knowing the background stuff helps with waiting. I haven't forgotten or abandoned or anything, just, well you know, other stuff. I have no doubt you all understand.
Keep well in the mean time and I'll be back as soon as I can.
