So true, I would like to see a lot more money going into the education of our children. For a "first world" country our education standard sucks.
A couple of years ago I was looking at the economy and realized that we could not afford to stay in the wars we were in, nor could we afford to get out of the wars.
I think that was when my brain starting doing loops in the driveway, and my inner barbarian started making sandcastles without any sand.
Right there with you. Getting into a war has been a demonstrated tactic - of the past few decades, favoured by the Republicans, but it goes far back beyond them, so I'm not "blaming" the GOP for inventing this - whenever you don't know what to do with "surplus poor" in your idealized economic model - so you go to war for a number of reasons: to send the poor away to fight, to introduce an artificial economic "boom" to manufacture war materiel, and to unite your population and give them something external to make common cause over. It's asinine.
