Hi...I came over here from aspecialparent. There's an article here about making a floor cloth: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/139037/family_craft_project_painted_game_board.html and Michaels.com has a tutorial but it won't load for me at the moment, not sure why. Michael's craft tutorials are usually very good.

I haven't done it yet but I think you use normal canvas (blick.com sells "floor canvas" specifically, but I think any canvas from michael's or an art store will be fine), acrylic paints to paint the design, and polyurethane to do the clear topcoats. I think to get the edges folded down you use glue, not sewing, but also there are some at blick.com that are pre-sized.

Googling "floor cloth how-to" gets a lot of hits; "floor canvas" doesn't have as many.

Good luck!
