It's even worse when you're a member of your Democratic (or Republican, too, I'd assume) town committee. Then not only do you get all the "please vote for me!" calls and the "my opponent is a Nazi" robo-calls, you also get the "Please give us money!" and "Please come to New Hampshire with us to canvass for Senator Dodd!" calls. Elections wouldn't cost so damn much if they didn't have to pay all those phone-callers. Yes, a lot of them are volunteers, but not ALL of them.

Also, my mom and sisters live in New Hampshire, and they don't even answer their phones in the week before the primary -- it's that bad.

We got a handful of calls here in Alabama before the Iowa caucus. In 2004, when we actually lived in Iowa, we'd get literally 6 calls/day and 8 fliers/day in the mail the week of.

We got tons of calls when we lived in California. Now we don't even get mailings. Nobody cares about Maine.

At least you got calls from candidates or their representatives.

We had calls last night asking for money. The first:

"Hello Mrs. P. This is Jeremy from the Republican National Committee. We want to thank you for being such a faithful supporter, and..."

Me: "Jeremy, I think you have the wrong list. I haven't been a Republican for over 30 years."

Him: "Oh, sorry, is Neil there?"

As soon as Neil hung up, I received a call from the Democratic state committee.

Try living in NH in a household with two registered independents. We were getting over 10 calls a day from campaigns and pollsters. Very, very annoying and unfortunately not covered by the do not call registry.
