belgium is the only country where communism has really succeeded. It's a bold statement, so let me explain that to you shortly... in basic terms, the difference between communism and capitalism is in the balance. In a communistic system the efforts you do as an individual benefit mostly the whole group, and less yourself. In a capitalistic system, the efforts you do as an individual mostly benefit yourself and less the whole group/community ( ... )

LOL,

I was just thinking the same thing after i had written the post.

But one should not forget that even though it seems that our governement is inefficient, we still have one of the highest number concerning productivity per hour overall, in the world.

My opinion is likewise in the fact that people should sacrifice some of their hard earned "cash" for the "greater good", very abstract and undetermined but you know what i am talking about.

What is not the problem is the amount, how much a percentage is not that important.
What is important is IMHO:

1. How efficient are these funds allocated?
2. Is everyone carrying the same burden.

There are ofcourse non-financial considerations to be taken into account, but for me the 2 above are of the greatest importance.

I really think if it were possible Marx would turn around in his grave and hoped he never wrote the book in the first place.

1. how efficient are these funds allocated?
2. is eevryone carrying the same burden?

2. is not even a real problem (well, not that important to me), but 1. is indeed the key question. I will run for king of belgium and propose a new type of government funding structure: a free choice to participate or not. yes means no payments at all for various services, no means payment of all real costs. Ah, that's not really necessary. Let's just cut away the mediocre middle men in governmental institutes. That should reduce costs, reduce taxes, and speed up procedures. Ok, let me solve that first, then I'll go for ending poverty and obviously also focus on world peace!!!

I do not think your suggestions would work.

The thing about governement is, everyone or no one.

But i do agree with cutting the middleman, anywhere you go, anything you do. They don't add value and just cost money.

3 o'clock
in the morning
it's quiet, and there's no-one around
just a bang and the clatter
as an angel hits the ground...
