All indications are that Moussaouis was just like the kid that follows all the cool guys around trying to get into their club. He was infatuated with the ideaology of terrorism and islamic jihad without having the practical sense or courage to genuinely participate in a meaningful fashion.

That won't save his ass though. Being an incoptent bufoon that was hung out to dry by his own comrades for being a pain in the ass didn't save Ilich Ramírez Sánchez (The Jackal, arguably the late 20th century's largest specop boogeyman, unwarrantedly so) and it won't save Moussaoui.
