Funny you should mention that! Erica's eyes have an epicanthal fold, which is either due to some Kazakh blood on the Ukrainian side of her heritage, or other environmental factors. Also, Wikipedia says that "the presence of an epicanthal fold is normal in people of East Asian and Southeast Asian descent, as well as some others. Epicanthal folds may also be seen in young children of any race before the bridge of the nose begins to elevate."

So czeano's comment below about "mom's eyes" is dead-on.
