hey!!!
agreed tat'JAI HO' didnt deserve an oscar but 'REHMAN' definately did !!
the oscar has may be given him a global platform to do wat he does best , making music.....
so may be here on we might get to enjoy some of his music in movies other than indian.... which is great!!!!!
think all the musicians globally will now on.. try and match up or do better than him so.... think the future awaits better musicians and music .

megs :-)

I'm in complete agreement with what you have just said. And it is indeed great that Rahman did. My argument is that - that piece of composition surely didnt. I would have been happier if he got it for any of his brilliant masterpiece compositions.

But you would probably say " He won. Hes recognized " But hasn't he been always? Does it require an oscar to assert his ability?

Oscar is Oscar anonymous March 20 2009, 08:49:31 UTC
Sadly yes, I think.

For the question 'Does it require an oscar to assert his ability'.. philosophically no. commercially yes.

Oscar has become a benchmark. If Rahman's got it, he's benchmarked at a level.

Cant be always what we feel anonymous March 4 2009, 04:27:35 UTC
I agree, that was not one of his best. He's recognized, he has won our hearts always and now he's reached a step ahead. Thats something we all have to feel great about.

I think its not about west recognizing him and really to feel great about them, its about winning among the many.
