1 thing that really annoys me lately is all this talk about "ethnic diversity" and people trying to "promote interacial mixing" and trying to find better ways of making a "perfect mix" of different cultures in a specific environment. seriously, do ppl really need to go outta their ways to do stuff like this? have they ever considered that ppl are more than capable of choosing who they want to associate w/ or that sometimes ppl just like to hang out w/ ppl of their own kind? is it really worth it to take out this problem on poor high school seniors just tryin to apply for college and rejecting so many of em because they arent a "true minority" and implementing things like affirmative action to let ppl w/ 2.0 gpas and 1000s on their sat's get accepted to top tier schools just because theyre considered a "minority?" seriously u guys, i really hate this kinda thinking.
in addition, y is it that ppl are forced to identify w/ ONE aspect of their heritage? i just fin'd taking this survey/test thing for school dealing w/ all these interracial issues, and this whole thing revoled around "how does ur primary ethnicity affect these interactions/feelings/experiences u deal with?" well, what if i dont have a primary ethnicity because im half? what if i consider both 1/2s to be my primary one since i really do relate and interact w/ both sides? how can i say that in my last 2 yrs of high school that i either always talked to ppl of different ethnicities or never talked to ppl of different ethnicities, since technically i did both? gd dang it, u ppl who write these types of things that make u choose what ethnicity u are, plz let us pick more than 1 or dont tailor the test so that ppl who arent 100% of 1 type of ethnicity cant even answer the questions because it doesn't make sense/apply to them.
