Detention hasn't been so bad yet, or at least it hasn't really been that bad. On Monday we cleaned the books in the library, and one of the shelves broke in the restricted section, and some of the books started running away. I don't really know why, but I guess they didn't want to be stuck on the shelves anymore. Most of them got put back, except one that started chasing and flapping it's bindings everywhere, so I had to throw a towel over it and it gave up. It made a bunch of noise when I put it back on the shelf, too. It was pretty late when I got back on a count of the restricted section so I was kind of tired yesterday. It's really quiet in the library when no one else is there. I hadn't really noticed before. I guess Madam Pince likes it like that.
Last night we had to clean all of Professor Trelawney's crystal balls and defoggers and teacups, and she even gave me her glasses to polish. She kept telling me that I was going to break something, so then I dropped a crystal ball and cracked it, but I think it was because she made me think I was going to, you know? Like when Neville breaks teacups after she tells him to, I think it's just because he gets so worried about doing it. Ron told me once his uncle saw a grim and he got so worried about it, he died, but Hermione said it wasn't really because of the grim at all. Just because he was so worried about it. So I think that's kind of how stuff in Divination comes true.
I missed Quidditch practice on Monday, and I'm going to miss it tonight because we have detention again, so Evan wants to move practices to the morning for the rest of the week. But I think the Slytherins practise then, so I guess I'll just tell Evan that I'll make it up somehow. And I think Natalie's new finger is doing much better now, so he'll probably have to work with her to make sure she gets used to it.
