Dom is reading over Elijah’s shoulder as he types out the rest of the story. He likes the way Elijah bites his lip as his fingers flow furiously over the keys. Orlando is bouncing around behind the two while Billy watches patiently from the couch. Elijah wishes they would give him just a little more room. It takes time to pour your fucking soul into a few pages of something that will be read only by a few people.
“Is it done yet?” Orli practically whines. He is becoming very irritating despite the fact that Elijah loves him. Elijah guesses boyfriends get annoying after a while. It’s what makes them so cute.
It was actually Dom’s idea to write the ‘Elijah moves back to Michigan’ ending. He says it’s funny because then it is truly fiction. People--well Elijah’s internet friends--would see pictures of them together and be all like: “What the fuck?” Elijah thinks he’s right.
Of course, Dom was pissed right off when he first read the fic and confronted Elijah about it right away. Elijah apologized frantically. What could he do? It was actually Billy who came to his rescue. It was the first time Elijah had ever seen Billy stand up to Dom. He told Dom he thought it was a funny idea and Dom took a while to come out of shock. Then he went to read it. He actually thought it was a good depiction of their lives. He calmed down and wanted Elijah to write more.
Dom turns around to Orlando. “Sit down.” He shouts. “You’ll be able to read it in a minute.”
“I don’t want to read it. I just want to go.” They are going out tonight. Orli is just really excited to go. He quickly adds a: “No offence, Lij.” to the end. Elijah knows that already. He knows that Orli isn’t much of a reader. That he’d rather be out there doing crazy things. He doesn’t care that Orlando will never read his story.
He finishes it with a: “There.” and looks up at Dom.
“This is great.” Dom exclaims. “You’re a good writer.” And Elijah blushes a bit. He thinks he is but doesn’t really want to say so. Would that make him egotistical? Egocentric? Well, anyway, he likes when people tell him so.
“Now can we go out?” Comes from a very hyped-up Orli who’s already got his own jacket on an Elijah’s in one hand. Elijah presses save and jumps out of the chair.
“Yes we can go now.” He tries to use his ‘I’m so much more mature than you’ voice, but fails. He can’t help but let Orli’s energy rub off on him and soon they’re both grinning. They bounce outside to the car. Elijah is glad that he can start living his life now. The fight between fantasy and reality has found a winner.
“I love you.” He tells Orlando and leans forward to brush his lips to his boyfriend’s.
