Dean clutched Sam's jacket. "We have to get out of here!"
Blinding light poured from the floor, following the pattern left by Lilith's blood. The ground shook.
"He's coming," Sam gasped, grabbing Dean's arms.
The light from the floor made their eyes water. A figure sauntered through it, as the explosion of light dimmed, they could see who it was. A man, shorter than they; balding, in a casual gray suit, munching a bag of candy. "Gotcha," said the Trickster.
He began to laugh as the brothers gaped at him. "Oh, oh, you guys are just plain fun to mess with."
"What is this?" Dean sputtered.
"Thursday." Trickster grinned. "Happy Valentine's Day." He held out the bag. "Have some Smarties."
"But. . .but. . . Lilith," Sam stuttered. "Ruby. Castiel. Adam."
"Did I go to hell or not?"
"Heh. That's for me to know and you to find out." He snapped his fingers.
Both brothers sat up in bed as the alarm clock radio blared:
"It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine . . ."
Dean slapped the off button. They stared at each other.
During breakfast, each brother wrote down what they remembered in bullet points. Dean left some out from his list and Sam did the same..
"Wisconsin," said Dean. "That's where we have to head first - find Adam."
Sam looked up from his laptop. "There's a missing persons report in Illinois for a James Novak."
"Fine," Dean nodded, grabbing his duffel. "Wisconsin, Illinois and then we find Chuck."
"And then what?"
"We make it up as we go along."
