I wish I had an angel

((Not a post for spiral_rpg))

Cloud gazes into the fire, mind drifting and settling on no one thing. It's what he prefers, not having to think too deeply on issues weighing heavily on him. He didn't think it'd last, really, not even during those last moments Aerith and Zack had turned and left him, leaving him with a warm feeling that he wasn't, isn't ( Read more... )

Is Sephiroth nuts? Put down his sword so he he would be easier to skewer like a spit wildhog? Cloud may be naive when it comes with dealing with people, but he's very much aware of where 'without a weapon' leads him to when Sephiroth is around.

If Sephiroth is there with peace in mind, he'll have to do a much better job to convince Cloud that his arsenal is not needed.

"I don't think so." Cloud shifts his weight, tilting his chin up to glarepout at Sephiroth. "Just tell me what you want."

Correction: He knows where it leads when Sephiroth's around and insane. Which he isn't any more, not that Cloud knows that.

Also, he's still not showing any sort of signs of attacking - just standing there quite calmly while Cloud points a sword at him. Of course, this isn't much of an indication of intent when you can summon your sword at a thought, but it's the best he can do for the moment.

"Something I hope you'll be willing to let me have." Interestingly, there's no tones of malice in that sentence, making it almost sound like a simple request. Very odd...

Something I hope you'll be willing to let me have.

Cloud is more taken aback by the lack of malicious intent in the tone than the words themselves. Sephiroth's been telling him variations of those words many times before; Cloud has always declined.

And Cloud prepares to do just that, parting his lips to utter those same words of rejection at Sephiroth, and is wholly surprised again when the words finally leave. "And what is that?"

He eyes try to fall to the side, a grass patch near Sephiroth as he tries to think of a reason he would even ask that. Stubbornly, he keeps his sight on the man, knowing that to look away could be folly.

There's a slight pause before Sephiroth answers Cloud's question - he'll only have one shot at this, although he's no real stranger to similar odds. Why then, is he worrying quite so much about this one?

Ah well, no matter. Better to just get it out in the open now and hope for the best.

"Another chance. Freedom."

Hopefully Cloud'll be able to pick up just what he means by that, although he'll gladly explain if Cloud asks him to.

"Another chance?" Cloud repeats, disbelief coloring his voice. "Freedom to do what? Choke this planet of all life? To murder all living things and use this planet as a vessel to travel through space?"

And though disbelief is the prevalent emotion for Cloud, he's also aware, peripherally, that Sephiroth had asked, and not told him of the planet's fate. That is...unlike the other man.

Cloud might look a little confused.
