My niece, Gingersnap, recently wrote an email to her father and stepfamily just to say hello and for the sake of using email because it is sooooooo cool. Her stepmother wrote back to announce that they would not be picking up the kids this weekend because they would be moving, but next weekend is Tyler's (the kids' stepbrother) birthday which would

1. It's disrespectful to use the mother's name in front of the children and to the children. It's parent alienation to force the children to use their mother's name instead of her proper title. I'm only known as my title and NO ONE gets that title but me.
2. The stepmother needs to butt the hell out of there. It's not her place to say a thing about anything. The visitation plans should only be discussed between the father and mother. ONLY.
3. If they aren't extending themselves for the kids, they shouldn't expect any favours. It's a big deal to change a schedule. This sounds like a voluntary forfeit of visitation to me.

Emily is a major hindrance to the entire family. Grasshopper and Nathaniel actually get along (well enough, any way) when Emily isn't there. When the kids are with their father, they are forced to call Emily "Mommy" and Grasshopper by her first name. They are not allowed to talk about what goes on at home. This will all backfire big time when the kids get older, I'm sure.
They don't even come for the kids half the time. On every other Friday, the kids get dressed in their "ugly daddy clothes" and wait for him. If they are lucky, Nathaniel will call at the time he is scheduled to pick them up to say that he isn't coming. Usually, he doesn't call at all. At times like Tyler's birthday weekend when Grasshopper can be flexible, they act like they will die if they don't get their time with the children.
Oh, yeah.. Nathaniel is 40 months behind in child support. What a guy!

Mom also has to save emails, keep track of missed visitations, number of calls made to the kids, etc. Then seek restitution for parent alienation syndrome. She has an attorney, right? Can she get one if she doesn't have one? Being so behind in child support and just being a general creep, she might get attorney's fees assigned to him since he's in the wrong.

The most annoying issue is that he acts like he's daddy of the year, but he doesn't come for them, or care for them in any way unless it suits him (which usually means someone is watching). Emily likes to say that she's a stay at home mother of six kids, when three of them don't live there.
