I wouldn't trust CDRs and DVDRs for long-time storage. With any luck, maybe 2 years, but the chance of it oxidating and losing data is very big.

I'm already acutely aware of that, thanks to my classes I've taken for my Master's in Library and Information Science. The preservation of digital material is a big issue these days. That's why I mentioned I have to research backup hard drives because they should last a bit longer, if not by much.
