PLEASE MAKE HIS HALO A BANANA SLICE OMG. That's so fun. And it looks like him, too! (That sounds patronizing, I'm sure, but I always have trouble making pictures of specific people LOOK like them, so I always admire that.)
Also, the first one.. .sigh, colors. Again. I love the colors you use. I also love the writing in the background and her shoulder.
David Byrne has an album called Uh-Oh. The front has a host of angels doing that gameshow "Gosh! Look at that interesting thing! gesture that angels do towards a figure seated on a gold and velvet throne, with a background of luminous clouds. The figure on the throne? Snoopy. The angels are all in a classical style, but Snoopy is painted like Snoopy. I like that.
Similarly, if I were in control of this St. Elvis work, I'd say keep the head-halo as a halo. I really really like the finger-halo of a record, though! If I were working on this, I'd probably attempt to make the head-halo one of those "looks like an upright gold wicker-work plate, nailed to the back of the head" halos, with Wurlitzer jukebox touches.
I'm having a little trouble imagining what you're talking about... How would you do the Wurlitzer touches? And the wicker-work plate... just a regular plate type from the middle ages icons, or...?
I may have to crack open some books and fire up the scanner to find a good representation of the 'wicker-work plate' halo. You can see a bit of it around Jesus' head, here, and a little more complex over here, but I've seen some that just look like an Arabian knotwork affair, what with all the swirly bits.
As per the Wurlitzer touches, hrm. I could've sworn they had more details up top, but apparently not. Unless you just had the bit in the top center and the bits on either side, although then folks might ask, "Why does Elvis have a Stargate for a halo?"
I do like those elaborate halos. I have a crapton of examples of them, 'cause I am collecting books on saints, angels, iconography, etc. I just didn't know what they were called! Hee.
