frustration

Okay, quick update in terms of college. I'm going to Northwestern School of Communications, and right now I am a radio/television/film major, because that's what I put on my app. But I obviously want to study theater. In the SoC, you have to get on a "track" freshman year so that you are taking the right classes, especially for theater, where ( Read more... )

Heh... I do that with conversations. Sometimes I replay it so much that I start to convince myself I actually said different things.

Hmm... do you have to be a theatre major to participate in the program and productions? If so, and it turns out there aren't enough kids who drop out... you can still do student-run productions and stuff. I know that's not the same as studying theatre... but if you were allowed the opportunity to take the classes, would you do another major in theatre anyway?

Oh, hey, unrelated... are the schools at Northwestern as divided as the ones at NYU? It was pretty much impossible, for example, for me to double major in theatre and, say, biology (not that I would, but you know) because they're in different schools. And that's the reason I can't apply there. So... is Northwestern like that, or can you be simultaneously enrolled in two separate programs?

Yeah, I can still do all the shows I want. I would just miss out on the educational aspect of it--the acting classes and all that.

But the nice thing about NU--in response to your question--is that you CAN double major very easily. So I could get a double major in film and history or theater and business, etc. That's why it's so frustrating; somehow it's no problem to double major (or change majors) ACROSS schools, but I can't even change my major within the same fucking school.

That's really annoying.

Oh, by the way. This hasn't come up recently, but I just wanted you to know for future reference - my mother has cracked down on my cell phone privileges and I am not allowed to send or receive text messages. So it's much better to call and leave voicemail, or shoot me an email or facebook or something. So, in case you ever need to talk to me ever in your life - yeah.

Because no one said that what you put on your application in the middle of senior year is what you ultimately have to study a year later. Obviously, if I had known that, I wouldn't have this problem.

*hughughughug* No second-guessing for you. You're going to have an amazing time, and if I have to break five legs for you (or do worse) to be able to study theater, then by God, I will!
