project wildcat?

So for those of you who don't know, I'm planning on attending a pre-orientation trip called "Project Wildcat," which consists of camping, hiking, etc. I thought it would be a good opportunity to try something new--and, as Willy said, if everyone else is roughing it too, I won't notice the lack of comforts quite so much ( Read more... )

by "you stop forgetting the strain" I meant: you don't notice that you're walking after a while. Partly because you're having fun and partly because it becomes mechanical. If you're at all in shape (aka not 300lbs and with bad knees), you'll be completely fine.

I vote go for it.
But if you've never done anything like it before, do walk/hike a lot to prepare. Just getting into the rhythm of it will help; I'm pretty sure you're capable enough.

You know what? Here's what I think: if the school runs the program, they must get tons of kids who have never done anything like this before, and some of those kids must not even be in as good physical shape as you. Yet they still run this program, and I bet those kids get something out of it. Moral: I'm going to bet that the leaders with you will be trained on how to deal with all sorts of situations, will be able to help you if you're tired or stressed or frustrated, and will work really hard to make it a good time.

Basically, I think it's the right thing to do.
