Recently I've had a problem with comments showing up on ONE old post I made to one of my neglected comms almost a year ago. It seems that every day for the past few weeks I've been receiving some really strange comments, some in foreign languages and some clearly advertising different things. I thought it very odd that they would ALL be on the

I have heard of that happening. I don't know how or why. I would be very upset. I f-lock most entries, but not birthday greetings or certain forms of announcements, or, most importantly, not my fiction! I would be very upset if anyone went after my fiction, because it has been painfully organized to be findable on my Memories page.

It's very unsettling. Maybe not threatening, but something like this is not nice to go through nevertheless. :(

It would be horrible to have any of your fiction violated in this way. That's why I think it's always important to upload to a safe site somewhere (like HASA and others).

Color me paranoid! I have everything double, triple, and quadruple backed-up. I am in the slow process also of putting everything on Archive of Our Own.

Oh, that's good. Archive of Our Own sounds interesting too. In fact, did you not just post something....? I have to catch up on reading LJ entries. :/

:(( you could've just locked the comments. it's in edit post-comment settings. this way you can keep the old comments but not accept new ones for the post.
were there many comments? i suppose that's why the spam went there:(

There were only 4 regular comments! But once the spam got started, there ended up being 82! :((((

Thanks for the tip, though. I'm f-locking all my posts from now on, but if sometime I don't for whatever reason, I'll remember about locking the comments. ;)

Was there anything that you think would have been attractive to spammers in the content of that particular post? o.O

I tend to get spam on my Resources post (can't remember if I ended up disabling comments on it), but nowhere near that number! :O

I don't know what would have attracted them...it was on my hot_argie_love comm and was a post on the football team Independiente. Kind of a large one with lots of pictures. I've never had spam on that comm before. Beats me what happened. :(((

What reeeeally has been driving me crazy are the russian sockpuppet accounts that keep adding me. I dont know why they do that! Sorry to hear you had to delete your post :(

Yeahhh!!! Same here, and most of the spam comments seemed to be in the Russian language!

I deleted my post because I couldn't stand any more of the spam. I didn't realized you could lock the comments. Oh well. :(
