I can't find my copy of The Silmarillion!
The most important book in the world and I can't find it anywhere. I need to write a story about Celegorm and Luthien but have to do some research first, and I cannot have lost my Sil! I've looked everywhere in this house for it.

When I moved to Berlin, I'd pack up all my books as well, bar two novels by Hemingway. I could've sworn I had put them in the boxes, alas, they were nowhere to be found. So I went and re-bought them.
Fast forward to some months later and Yours Truly visiting the fam ... sure enough, I found back those two books at my old place there in Wilderness. Are you fucking kidding me, books?? Where you'd been hiding??
Meanwhile, when I moved to my new flat two years ago, the guys who helped with the move happily threw away (!!) books - books I could've sold on eBay or might have still needed. And they also threw away that one backpack I had once won online, and it's not I was emotionally attached to that one or something, or that it was kinda unique.

I'm sorry you lost your books and special backpack because of someone else! The same thing almost happened to me too!
