this & that

I don't know why I always promise to be on LJ more often when I should know by now that it's pretty much impossible to pin down any time.

Just half an hour ago I was watching TV, texting with my son's girlfriend and talking to my husband about a leak from the water meter all at the same time.  I had to drop everything to call the water department ( Read more... )

So great to get caught up with you, Jenni! I've missed seeing you around. I know exactly what you mean about how fast days go by and how persistent and demanding interruptions can be! I have trouble making doctor's appointments because of trying to fit them around the things I am trying to do and Laura and Alex's schedules! It sounds ridiculous given that I do not actually work (in any conventional sense).

Your cats sound well and are fortunate to have such a good home! There are a lot of outside cats around our neighborhood and frankly, they don't look so great. They fight in our backyard also, which I know can't be healthy for them--remember all the battle-scarred tom cats of my youth when in small towns virtually all cats were outside cats. They are always breeding also.

ordered another copy of Unfinished Tales in a larger print because my old book has such tiny print that I can hardly see it without a magnifying glass
I am totally dependent upon my Kindle for PC! The largest print in paper books is too small for me. Although, I ( ... )

Oh gosh, it seems I'm always making appointments and then cancelling them because of something else coming up. It's so frustrating ( ... )

Just this morning I heard the news about Moir and Virtue retiring, which made me very sad.

I know! Felt like they would last forever. But at least they retired at the top of their game. They must be exhausted though. Even ballet dancers last longer than figure skaters--it is such a brutal sport while looking so beautiful! What a contradiction.

Thank you for the long list of k-dramas! I am psyched. Sometimes I cannot do anything but veg-out and love to be entertained while doing it!

Alex is heartbroken about the neighborhood cats, but I really cannot be the Mother Teresa of feral cats. Mexico City was worse. After the big earthquake when we lived there so many people were killed and homes destroyed that there were roving packs of dogs--including rabid dogs.

I would love to watch Carnival Row. Everyone seems to love it. Sadly, I can't afford to stream Amazon and my cheapest Broadband hasn't enough width to stream TV well. So I shall have to wait to see if it comes out on DVD eventually.

I hope Carnival Row does come out on DVD. I think it's better than some of the reviews it's received. Even though it does seem reminiscent of other shows, it also has its own uniqueness. And I think Orlando has really grown as an actor. He's much more subdued and nuanced now, but I didn't think he was bad before!

Welcome back!
Silmarillion TV-series, huh? The mere thought fills my heart with dread. But again, I summarily hated the Jackson movies, so I probably don't have the right to say anything.
