The Tolkien fandom brought me to LJ, but I was never a writer, so wasn't in the inner circle. I had no idea B2MEM was gone. Was that a HASA event? The SWG is by writers and for writers, so it was not something I'd be involved in. I stick with the Tolkien Society and such. You know what I miss more than anything? The old usenet groups. RABT was my favorite - I was involved in the chapter-of-the-week back 20 years ago and would re-read those entries many times. There were many good discussions. For instance, who would have made a better boyfriend - Aragorn or Faramir? Heavy stuff!
I am glad to see you post again. Maybe getting in the habit would be of some comfort in these times. Even just posting and reading mundane stuff makes me feel like I'm meeting my friends for coffee.
I will hope for the best for your granddaughter. Things are trying enough without such worries. Please keep us updated.

As for writing, picowrimo might be in session in March again, should there be any interested people. It isn't a challenge - well, save for the one you give yourself during that time - but the atmosphere is relaxed and the (small) crowd supportive, so you might like it there. :)

Thanks so much, I should try picowrimo as you suggested! That sounds right up my alley since it has a relaxed atmosphere and the members are supportive. I will give it a try!

How is the audio version of The Silm? I've never listened to audiobooks because I figured it might be annoying if the voices weren't just right or interpreting the text in a satisfying way, but I might if they're actually good.

Time has become very fluid - as I once wrote in a fic 'it was no time, and a life-time, ago...'
We have family members with petit mal and it is scary at first, but controlled so well for them both that it isn't a problem.

It certainly applies, especially now.
Yes, thankfully the medication for petit mal is very effective. My brother can drive again while on it and has had no problems at all. I think it's called Tegretol, the generic being Carbamazepine.
