yeah, so now this amish school house shooting. how can people be so selfish? HOW? the murderer was "angry at the world." apparently he lost a daughter a few years ago. so he decided to turn around and inflict the most horrible pain imaginable on other people? innocent people? he sent a pregnant lady out of the room. how thoughtful of him to ( Read more... )

You are right. It is very important for people to have sympathy in these type of situations. I am just guessing that some people recoginize that you tend to take these things very hard, and want to help you not feel too bad. They are just trying to help you. I usually try to understand and sympathize with the victims, but not to feel too much of their pain. It is like hate. I tell people that if you hate someone, the hatred hurts you more than the person that you hate, so let the hate go. But just because you stopped hating, that doesn't mean that you have to treat that person you hate the same as everyone else. So, I usually completely recognize and realize what a horrible situation these things are, I try to not let them add stress to my already stressful life. Anyway, even though I try not to "feel the pain" of the victims, this story suckerpunched me in the gut. I just can't shake it today. This story really got to me, and that is saying something, because it is very rare that that happens to me. So if you feel ( ... )

Well, I kind of figured this--

Jesus said that Satan was "the god of this present world"-- and with news like this, it makes you wonder. What a crappy planet we live on.

i've got to say, it comforts me a little to know that these people are so religious they'll be able to cope. that's something i like about the very religious. they can handle tragedy.

Me, I'd leave his body out for the vultures, and I don't see how a person can forgive someone who just killed their son/daughter because that seems inhuman- but I agree. I mean, Christians are ordered to forgive and love their enemies. I just don't understand how you can put that into practice. After something like this. I guess I can smile and say how I forgive him, and then secretly hold onto the fact that I believe in hell, and that he's there now next to Jeffrey Dahmer and Hitler, slow-roasting. Yes, I forgive him too. Psyche.

Oh, and you know what steams me no end? The fact that one guy tells 15 people to leave, and they run out like sheep to let the others die. 15? I don't carre that they were kids or preganant, I wouldn't care if they were fetuses-- put up a fight! I think that upsets me more than the man who did the shooting. He was just some pukey little wimp. One man with a gun against 20 or so people?

I think it upsets me because of this-- if I were cornered- or you, or whoever-- NO ONE WOULD SAVE US. No one rushes in to the rescue. The police are only good at drawing a chalk outline around you. And I guess that's why these things upset me. I don't know.

you nailed it with the lack of compassion.

the part about this story that made me cringe was the teacher who left. I can't imagine leaving my classroom of children of all ages...yeah, she called the cops, but any number of those released could have called the cops. I couldn't leave my class. Hopefully i'll never have to make that choice, but at this rate, who knows?
