Grew too far apart to agree anymore, it's sad, but it happens. She's trying to find her place in this world and it's a place I don't fit in any more.

It does happen. Happened a while back with my near-sister bff, horrible, but in the end, it was better to let it go than be angry or whatever. The song has it pretty well.

And the upside is, many years down the line, we're able to relate on a reasonable level again. (I think she ended up regretting it more than I did in the long run, and has tried to make a patch or two)
We'll never be great friends again, but it's not a total loss after all, and I've found recovering friendly relations with someone you knew that well is always a good thing. Don't fret, anyway, and smile- I wish you luck!

Yes, I suppose I saw the writing on the wall last year, but this year it became obvious we'd grown too far apart to agree.
