I think cats might too. I've had an incredibly stressful couple of weeks, full of things I can't write about until the court case is over. I came home on the worst day and just fell apart. Booger, who's normally all about what I can do for him, climbed into my lap and purred and purred. He knows. Burl knows too.

Burl does know. He quite often now gets up on the arm of my chair here and leans his head against my shoulder and purrs. And he spends a lot less time outside these days, hardly ever at night. He prefers to be where he can touch me if possible. But, Burl misses Toby too, he loved that dog with all his little kitty heart. It doesn't make him any less sweet; but I can't say that, like Homer, he was simply responding to my grief.
