Dug up from the depth of this journal to be on top. Will adjust the date now whenever I make an edit.
Simon
It boggles my mind because I would have given my right arm to swear that if Wes would meet the Serenity crew he'd come along with Simon and not at all with Mal. But in Camp it is exactly the opposite way around. Being biased by Mal's opinion, Wes was a bit wary when he met Simon the first time, but his behaviour and the way he spoke about Kaylee (Wes misunderstood Simon completely and thought Simon indicated Kaylee was "weird") confirmed what he heard from Mal in the first place.
Wes thinks Simon is an arrogant bastard and a terrible smartass, and being a smartass himself makes that kind of worse. When Wes meets Simon they will bicker until the end of days if nobody does anything, e. g. pour cold water over them or slap one of them. They are so alike that I think they have to bitch at each other constantly because otherwise they would have to make out. This didn't change with Simon's memory loss, it actually even got a bit worse because the new Simon openly treats Wesley as a child and he can't stand when people do that.
[Anne]
Thoughts about Wes/ Anne in
this post. After she was gone, Wes was such a ball of emo that I hardly played him anymore. Now he still misses her and will always have a special place for her in his heart but he is slowly getting over it. The fact that they never will see each other again kind of helped, as odd as this may sound. He even managed to read Anne's books, all of them and is happy that she had a good life, although it still hurts that he has no part in it.
Russel
I quote Russ player: "Russ and boobs - on their own, he can handle them, but together, they're just too much." This is basically the reason for Wes contradictory and confused feelings towards Russ, the genderswitches and what happened during them (they came quite close during the one around Christmas 2005). Russ' death and the appearance of Fraud were the reason for Wes' Big Traumatizing Camp Event, which he can deal with by now but which he also will never forget. It had a huge impact on him and on the way people were treating him, although it is mostly forgotten now.
More thoughts on Russ in
this post.
Momoko
Wes loves Momo in the most innocent way possible. She someone who cares, someone he would crawl to and cry on her shoulder. A Beverly-substitute so to speak. And of course he will protect her by all means if she is in danger. Also she's the only one besides Russ who he ever confides in concerning his feelings.
Kon-El
Wes likes Kon's carefree and funny way and thinks he is pretty cool. He has a bit of a problem with the fact that Kon and Russel don't come along that well. He's happy for him and Buffy and there was much bonding over Momo and Kal. Kon didn't break the friendship after the whole killing-an-artificial-being period and Wes is very grateful for that. Kon is somebody who is always there when Wes needed him and he cheers him up when he's down. Wes tries to do that for Kon, too. He's one of the closest friends he has in camp.
[Inui]
Missed a lot. Wes doesn't have much friends in camp and thus it affects him quite a bit when one of them leaves.
Ash
Ayee. Wes and Ash never really got along and this is not going to change that soon. They have a long history of bitching at each other and usually such threads always end with them making faces at each other because they ran out of insults or are too angry for anymore words. From Wes' part this is no real OMGKILLUHATE, he doesn't take Ash serious enough for that. He'd still help Ash out if he would be in danger, simply because Ash is younger than Wes. It's more of an, um, loveable hate-relationship?
Excel and Lord Il Palazzo
Excel generally intimidates and confuses the hell out of Wesley and insults him whenever they talk. Also by now he suspects her of wanting to conquer Starfleet or the Earth with whatever army she has at home and so he is very wary what to tell Excel. She's the one who started to call him Nerd Boy so his disapproval has grown. They managed to have a rather enjoyable conversation when Wes' personality got switched, which deeply disturbed Wes - but also made him see Excel in a slightly better light.
As he comes from an age of liberty and freedom he despises dictators and their attitude, so he neither respects nor likes Il Palazzo, though he acts very careful around him. By now he thinks that the Il Palazzo he knew was actually an imposter. He prefers the "real" Palazzo because he seems to be rational and not as eccentric as the other one. Plus, no attempts to infiltrate Starfleet yet.
Ami
Ogod, that will be long-ish.
After the Fraud incident Wes shied away from Ami , knowing she severely disapproved of his actions. It hurt him because she's one of those people in camp he really is interested in getting to know: geeky and intelligent, which means she's for once not a girl he's too intimidated by to talk to. They slowly started to talk to each other and were on neutral-to-friendly terms after helping Robin when Thirteen arrived for the first time.
The big change came on Mandatory Naked Day. Ami got attacked by gorillas, naked Wes came to the rescue. And you just can't spend half a day running from gorillas naked together without a few revelations. After that they talked more often, also a bit about their relationship and yay, they became friends, to Wes' great delight.
To say that he always saw her completely neutral would be a lie, though. He saw her naked after all and thinks she's very pretty. The attraction was not strong enough to interfere with their friendship, though, but it always was there. It got stronger the more their friendship grew. Wes denied or ignored it because there was Anne after all and not much room in his heart for somebody else. After Anne was gone, he was too much in pain to really think of anybody else. But after that first pain subsided those feelings for Ami crept up on him again and he had a really, really bad conscience about that,
voiced in one of the Postsecret posts. During the next months he tried to be as much around Ami as he could, often succeeding in being a bit closer to her than a normal friend would possibly be. That brought up what Ami-mun described in one of the Serious Polls: In 50% of the cases Ami seemed to enjoy his company as being close to him, in the other 50% she'd fidget and be visibly uncomfortable. And this confused the hell out of Wes. After talking to Russel about it and making his Christmas gift to her, he bravely decided to talk to her.
That of course made Ami even more fidgety and uncomfortable and the talk generally didn't really end well for Wes. He didn't have the slightest clue what he did or did not to make Ami behave like this. He also didn not have the slightest idea if she liked him, liked him a lot or totally despised him. All Wes knew was that whatever he may did now except of keeping quiet and waiting for the storm to settle would made her not wanting him to see him again ever. And that would be even worse than just being her friend and hoping all other feelings for her will subside. He wanted this awkward period to go away and never be spoken about, but as another few months of confusion passed, and also moments where they got very close to each other, he confided first in Momoko and finally to Usagi.
Usagi encouraged him to not give up and also provided insight into one of reasons why Ami might behave how she behaved - she was afraid that in a relatioship she might neglect her guardian duties. Ami and Wes had another talk, Ami and Usagi had a few talks and then it was just a matter of timing and a convenient pool. After more than one year after he crushed on her and about half a year of hidden feelings and awkward situations they're together now, and boy, you can be sure that Wesley won' t do anything that could endanger this.
Usagi
Usagi is very extrovert and bouncy, something Wes can't deal very well with. But she's friendly and goodnatured and helped Wes a great deal when he was in doubt because of Ami, this makes him tolerate her hugs and ditziness quite easily. Also she is very important to Ami and will probably always come first for her. Wes knows and accepts this.
Kabuto
Before The Talk: Had a good deal of respect of him. After The Talk: Is scared shitless. :Db Although Kabuto would not have to worry about anything, see essay above. ¬¬
Heather
Wes is a bit shy around Heather because of her self assured behaviour but thinks she is okay. He knows she doesn't like him but as they are so different it doesn't bother him very much.
The Elric Brothers
Wes keeps distance to those two, firstly because he knows of the past they shared with Russ, secondly because they do things he can't (YET) explain and thirdly because they made Fraud and he hated them for doing that.
Rey
Although Wes had pretty strong negative feelings for Rey once, those subsided, mainly through Wes' friendship with Kon. He still doesn't particularly like Rey but is able to have a polite conversation with him now.
Ranma
No love here. Wes thinks Ranma acts as if he was someone better than Wesley and he can't stand his "holier than thou attitude".
[Lyra], Anita, Ahiru
Wes has a soft spot for children and usually comes along with them very well, as one episode where he was kidnapped with young children of the Enterprise cleary showed. Anita and Ahiru are cute, well-behaved and loveable young girls who all hit the "little sister I never had" buttons with Wes. He likes to talk to them, will always be there to protect them and forgive them more annoying stuff than he would do with Ash, for example.
Since he knows of Ahiru's second identity Tutu, though, he won't treat her as child-like as he will treat the others anymore. He values her trust highly and won't betray it.
Kairi and Ken
In one category as he got to know them both when he was under a camp influence and far more social, outgoing and cheerful as he usually is. He will be a bit shy and awkward around them until he can be sure that they like him anyway, but chances are good that he will approach them himself, which he does rarely with strangers.
Yuujirou
Wes didn't quite know what to think of Yuujirou first. He seemed to be a very friendly person but his enthusiastic nature and all those frilly costumes confuse and intimidate Wes a bit. But then again Wes is always very curious about different cultures, so those confusion is not really negative. Also by now he thinks that under the dresses and sparkles there's a nice guy. Although his advice and ideas still make Wes dot a lot.
Violet, Robin, Brainy
Wes likes them all and respects their skills and abilities. He is probably a bit too shy to really pursue a friendship but will show it in small ways, like bringing useful stuff down to the lab, doing repairs without charge and so on. He's happy that there are people around he can talk about mechanics and science without much explaining.
The Doctor
Wes likes him very much! He's also very curious about him and thinks he can learn quite a lot from him. He somtimes wonders how such a crazy personality fits in with such a high intelligence but he wouldn't make the mistake to look down on the Doctor for this. He knows a genius when he sees one. Wes admires the Doctor and is proud when he shows his approvement.
