So the thing that I picked up on that they never addressed is that I think Sophie had some sort of grudge against Ashika. Sophie just seemed to delight in causing Ashika distress. No idea why - jealousy is the best I could come up with - but it seemed to carry throughout the season.
I think Sophie just liked to stir up shit. She had her own issues and she liked Scott more than she should have - but she treated him like a pet or like furniture. And something that should be at her beck and call whenever she wanted. When he bucked the system, she got pissed. She likely didn't have the jazz to cut it in the actual Tory party system and so Ashika popping up and being interested in HER PET likely didn't make things any better. She probably already had the inherent Tory prejudices against Ashika's race (but was smart enough to not SAY it) and then she was jilted by her gutter-boyfriend for HER?
Plus, there are just some women (unfortunately) who are catty like this. Think it's compensation for inferiority issues. Meh. Jealousy was half of it. Entitlement was the other half.
Yeah, I can see that losing her pet thing. Hadn't thought about a race issue, but yeah, that could be a piece as well. Boo cattiness! Just not really a fan of it. Although I guess it can be amusing to watch on TV in the right circumstances.
