Thoughts on City of Bones

I just finished reading City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. It was a pretty good story - interesting universe and fun characters, but at the end of the book, all I could think was Jace is Clary's frakking brother? Arrrgh! Total Luke and Leia situation, which frustrated me to no end last night when I finished the book. I mean, I'd guessed many of the other relevant plot points before they revealed them in the story - that Clary's mother was a Shadowhunter, that Clary was Valentine's daughter and that Luke might actually turn out to be good in the end - but none of that stuff bothered me very much. Poor Clary and Jace. They still have each other, but it's got to be pretty frustrating to downshift from making out in the hallway and wanting to go further to oh you're the long lost sister I never knew I had. *sigh* And really, as much as I liked him, Simon is no Han Solo :P

I'm sure that I'll get over it - the story is continued in Book 2 - and I'm dying to get my hands on it, so they must have done something right ;) I'm off to the library to try to pick up a copy.

EDT: After finishing this series, I realized that I hadn't given any basic information on the first book. Here it is :)

There's a secret world in New York City and sixteen-year old Clary Fray can suddenly see it. It's a world of demons and demon slayers, called Shadowhunters, and Clary is thrust into the middle of it, along with her best friend, Simon. But with her sudden Sight, Clary is also in more danger than she's ever known.
