Pockets - In or Out?

One of the first things I "learned" when studying 18th c. clothing was that pockets are underwear. I always wear mine (singular pocket) as the first thing that goes over my stays. This is good if I load it down as it makes less of a bulge. I really need two in order to balance it out, though ( Read more... )

I wear mine under my top petticoat, mostly because I don't wear a gown (yet). When I have a gown, I'll probably wear them directly under, and access them through the opening in the front.

But, I also wear a pair of pockets. I don't like the single pocket for day-long wearing. I feel....lopsided. I am, however, making a large fancy one for under fancy dress.

Me neither! I need to add new pockets to my to-do list, but I'm always focused on things that are more visible.
