Some of the Foundling Hospital's books and tokens are currently on display in the DeWitt Wallace Gallery at Colonial Williamsburg, until mid-May. There is no photography permitted but you can take notes and sketch. After this exhibit closes, according to the currator of the Foundling Hospital artifacts, access to the items will be severely restricted (as in very very few people will be able to see/study them) because the limited handling the items have had in recent years has further weakend many of the items.
I'd have given my eye teeth to have been able to go to the symposium they had last October, and I'd love to be able to see the exhibit. Unfortunately, traveling so far is just out of the cards for me at this time. Based on what you say, I suppose I'll never be able to see the fabrics!
