I keep saying I'm going to post pictures and don't. Well, not tonight! Here is some honest-to-goodness proof that I've done something. Landscaping
( Read more... )
Wow---SOOOOOO pretty! I love your house, even from the outside (or especially from the outside, since that is as much of it as we've seen, so far!) I love the fact that it somehow evokes a feel or sense of the Colonial period even though the construction is modern.
And as to the "nowhere near done," you know that landscaping might be "done," but gardening never, ever is. And as many people, Yours Truly among them, consider landscaping to be one of the categories of gardening, you're not ever going to be done with your gardening or your landscaping. And believe it or not, that's meant to be encouraging, rather than a dismal outlook. Gardeners are forever trying new things, tweaking existing things, dreaming of more things, and loving all of it. :^)
Thank you! Yes, I don't want to be "done" specifically, but rather able to focus on planting pretty things. I'm tired of tearing out stumps and avoiding poison ivy. We're getting there, though! (At least in front)
On the one hand, I'm kind of envious you have a house, and a nice one at that. Once in a while I feel like less of a grownup because I don't (I know, it's ridiculous). On the other, I don't think I could afford all the repairs and maintenance because there's not much I'm great at handy-wise besides patching small leaks and mowing grass, LOL.
Sometimes I wonder about owning houses. We've had to replace nearly everything on this one, so our good buy isn't looking quite so good. Our old house still needs massive repairs before we can put it on the market. My husband has been jacking up the sagging floors, then we have to have the plaster repaired, then repaint... Ugh, I hate thinking about it! Don't feel bad that you've made the choice that's right for you. Home ownership is a series of repairs it seems.
Closing is (tenatively) June 26. First things first--we actually put in for another house that ended up having a roof leak and damage. This particular house you see was the one we both liked/wanted before he went out there. But, he went there and decided it was out because the floors creaked and drywall tape was falling down (signalling bad construction). There is also a wall between the dining room and kitchen that he wants to take out to make the area more open (since we cook a lot).
It's got a bus that comes by (important to him), and it seems pretty cat-safe. Not dissimilar to where we live now, except it's a house and not a basement apartment.
I'm going to have WINDOWS and CEILINGS I CAN'T TOUCH!
Ooh, I like it! Very airy and modern. Your cat(s? sorry I can't remember) will love the stairs. It looks like a lot more than 1700 square feet, too. The bathrooms seem good-sized and is that an upstairs sitting area? Very nice. :)
Hope the move and everything goes smoothly for you!
