Exactly 10 years ago, I sat in a classroom and watched on TV as a plane flew into the the twin towers, listened as the newscasters speculated on who and why, watched as the towers fell, as survivors ran out and heroes ran in.  It was as I understand the the worst terrorist attack on US soil, almost 3000 people died as a result.  I cried that day

You're right. I feel bad for anyone who has a special reason to celebrate on September 11, simply because it's tainted now. And, that's not right.
