I have a new canon camera I'm getting used to, but I'm not sure I like it. The colors look really bright on the screen when I take photos, but seemed really washed out when I transfer them to my computer. I miss ( Read more... )

I find that it's hard to get sharp, defect-free digital images. Every last picture I take I have to bump up the contrast and the saturation, it's like taking pictures through a cheap plastic toy lens. And even then the purple and mauves are a miss.

What are you shooting with?
If DSLR - change f-stop, shutter speed and ISO || SHOOT RAW will save you so much ability to salvage later
If P&S (pint&shoot) - some allow for SOME manual settings such as listed above. Adjust.
If not allowed - I'm sorry (because even some of Canon's P&S's allow above changes.)
For the most part I have never run into a digital or even film camera that can completely correctly choose the best settings for a situation. Even in manual it's still a bit of a guessing game but with the age of digital you can quickly light test then proceed without too much worry.

If none of these are viable options for you I'd be happy to run them through lightroom to see what can be done.
